The church, which was built by Metropolit Ionnis in 1886 during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid, was converted into a mosque in 1925, after the Greek citizens left Talas through exchange, and opened for worship. The building, which was originally a church, was built in a cruciform plan scheme. The building was turned into a mosque by adding a mihrab and a pulpit to the south. The building, known as the Panaya Church, was named “Yaman Dede” Mosque after it was converted into a mosque. There are shops arranged in the form of tol (stone arch) under the terrace part of the mosque. Today, shops serve for cultural purposes.
