It was built as a complex by Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha in 1660 in İncesu District, at the junction on the Silk Road, one of the most important roads of the era, connecting Adana-Niğde-Kayseri and Nevşehir-Ürgüp-Kayseri. The Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha Caravanserai, together with the bazaar, mosque, madrasa, tabhane and bath, forms the complex.
