GRAND BAZAAR

The Grand Bazaar in Kayseri is considered to be the second largest bazaar in the Ottoman Empire, after the one in Istanbul. It is thought to have been built in the 15th century and contains many different sections, each with its own name. The only surviving inscription from the original bazaar can be found in the section built by Hacı Efendi in 1844, which bears his name. The bazaar is home to a variety of shops that sell local food and crafts.
