GEVHER NASIBE MADRASA (MUSLIM THEOLOGICAL SCHOOL)
The Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev I Madrasah was built in 1204 by the Sultan of the Anatolian Seljuk State. It was constructed according to the wishes of the Sultan's sister, Gevher Nesibe. The madrasah consists of a medical school, a hospital (Şifahane), and a historical Turkish hospital (Bimarhane). It is noteworthy for being the first applied medicine madrasah in Anatolia. The building, which is split into two parts for the hospital and madrasa, has a typical Seljuk architectural plan with open courtyards surrounded by four iwans. The crown gate of the Şifahane is a particularly impressive example of Seljuk stonemasonry.
