AGIRINAS UNDERGROUND CITY
Agirnas is a settlement centre with galleries, caves, and underground city ruins that was inhabited at least 3,000 years ago. It is a sub-district of "Koramaz," which is one of nine sub-districts in Kayseri. Records show that it was a large village, with 53 Christian households, 3 Muslim households, 2 mills, 4 bezirhane (linseed oil production facilities), and an 18 thousand akce (Ottoman Empire currency) tax burden. 95% of the town's population was Greek.
