Mevlana's teacher, Seyid Burhanettin, lived in Kayseri between 1235 and 1244. Seyid Burhanettin, who went to Konya to give lectures to the Mevlana, because of a dream he had, stayed here for a year and returned to Kayseri. Mevlana later came to Kayseri and continued to learn lessons from his teacher. Seyid Burhanettin taught Mevlana for 9 years. No tomb was built on Seyid Burhanettin's grave until the end of the 19th century. In 1894, upon the request of Abidin Pasha, the governor of Ankara province, to the Sultan, his mausoleum was built on his grave with the will of Abdülhamit II.
The entrance to the tomb with three iwans and a central dome is on the north side. There is an inscription dated 1894 written by Ali Emiri above the door aperture.
